Each February, Heartland Community Foundation celebrates Match Month, when generosity multiplies and your gift goes farther than ever. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Match Month, and we’re inviting everyone across Ellis, Rooks, and Trego counties to join in.

Your participation matters. Together, we can make a lasting difference for our communities today and for generations to come.

How Your Gift Makes an Impact

In 2025, donors like you helped Heartland award $1,067,523 in grants across Ellis, Rooks, and Trego counties, supporting 138 organizations and bringing 245 projects to life. These grants:

  • Strengthened nonprofits and local programs

  • Supported youth and seniors

  • Enhanced schools, parks, and community spaces

  • Brought arts, events, and enrichment to every corner of our counties

Grant dollars are critical for closing gaps when other funding falls short. Each year, more organizations come forward with meaningful ideas and urgent needs—and each year, your generosity helps make them possible.

How Match Month Works

During February, gifts to any of our County Legacy Funds receive a $2-for-$1 match from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation (up to $50,000 per county).

The magic of Match Month:

  • $100 becomes $300

  • $1,000 becomes $3,000

  • $5,000 becomes $15,000

No other opportunity stretches your charitable dollars across our communities like this.

Why the County Legacy Funds Are Powerful

Gifts to the County Legacy Funds:

  • Join the generosity of neighbors past and present

  • Grow over time, so grants can increase year after year

  • Provide flexible support, letting Heartland respond to the greatest needs and most promising opportunities in each county

Because of nine years of Match Month, grantmaking from the Legacy Funds has steadily increased—but requests for funding still exceed the dollars available. Your gift ensures more good ideas become reality and helps local programs thrive.

Our 2026 Goals

We’re aiming for 500 donors across Heartland, including:

  • 200 donors from Ellis County

  • 200 donors from Rooks County

  • 100 donors from Trego County

The $2-for-$1 match from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation is only guaranteed for a limited number of years, so now is the perfect time to give and multiply your impact.
